Curb Appeal Beyond Your Home

As we all know, first impressions matter most, especially in real estate. It’s called drive-up-appeal. A prospective home owner should drive up to your house and already be impressed with what they see. This helps in creating the right attitude before they even open your front door. Landscape is a huge part of this appeal and should be considered more than you think when selling a home.

In terms of landscape, there are many steps to creating the desired appeal from the curb, but let’s start with the easiest first. Keeping trees and shrubs clean and shapely is one of the most important places to start. Smaller bushes are easier to trim yourself but you may need professional assistance in cleaning up large plants like a tree or crepe myrtle. Depending on the time of year, your grass may or may not be as green as you’d like but more importantly, make sure to focus on maintaining weeds and unsightly elements of the lawn. This includes pulling out dead seasonal plants or flowers in all the beds surrounding the exterior of your home. The next best thing you can do to make your landscape more attractive is mulch the flowerbeds to give a clean and simple look to your garden. If you want to plant flowers, use bright colors with pleasant scents to make the entrance more inviting. Talk to the nurserymen when you pick your seasonal flowers and plants to determine which ones are high maintenance or could attract insects more than others. It’s recommended that when you try to sell a home you use hardy plants and flowers that are easy to maintain, especially if you are residing elsewhere. You can also adorn the front porch with beautiful pots to add a personal touch to the outside of the home.

Landscape is one of the easiest ways to add value to your home during the listing process. Use these tips and staging tips provided by our office to help your home sell faster!
